A bachelor鈥檚 degree in history involves the study of people in different times and places, which develops moral judgment and expands our understanding of power, cultures, worldviews and what it is to be human. A history major will help you be prepared for further graduate studies, as well as the intellectual demands of many other professions, including law, education, journalism, civil service and business.
A bachelor鈥檚 degree in history will open the door to a variety of rewarding careers for you. You can make your mark in law, nonprofits, business, international affairs, lobbying or advocacy. A history major can also help you go on to pursue an advanced degree to become a history professor, lawyer, archivist, librarian, political consultant or writer.

The history minor introduces you to the diversity of the human experience while developing your skills in writing, critical thinking and moral judgment. By studying different cultures throughout history, you will expand your understanding of what it is to be human.
Students in this program are also eligible to enter STEP, which allows you to earn a master鈥檚 degree and prepare for teacher certification with one additional year, saving you time and tuition costs.

You can be an active participant in the Student History Society, which plans several trips and on-campus events throughout the year.
