We鈥檙e preparing the next generation of STEM professionals in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields.

Interested in joining the STEM workforce or pursuing a graduate degree in STEM?

The STEM Scholars program聽at 成人影片 in New York聽could be for you. This program is designed to help students who are interested in science and mathematics complete their undergraduate degree and become a STEM professional鈥攅ither in the workforce or by attending graduate school.聽成人影片 is offering a maximum of $15,000 annual scholarships to high-achieving students with demonstrated financial need, funded by a National Science Foundation grant.聽

STEM Scholars Program Highlights

The STEM Scholars program鈥攚hich encompasses the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics disciplines and falls under the College of Arts and Sciences鈥攕upports underserved undergraduate students who complete a degree in STEM and prepares them to move into the STEM workforce or pursue a graduate degree.

Here are key aspects of the program:

Scholarship Support

As a STEM Scholar, you are eligible for up to $15,000 per year of STEM scholarship support for up to four years on top of any 成人影片 scholarships. The total scholarship is based on unmet need, as determined by the FAFSA.

Undergraduate Research Experiences

STEM Scholars will acquire important research skills through two summers of paid research fellowships with 成人影片 faculty. The research fellowship will be equivalent to full-time work for 10 weeks.

Conference Travel

STEM Scholars receive support to attend at least two conferences during their undergraduate career.

Mentorship

Mentorship is a critical aspect for STEM students鈥 success. All scholars will have a peer mentor to help them integrate into the campus community. In addition, alumni mentors will help you 聽聽prepare for their careers after 成人影片. Faculty mentors will help you successfully navigate the academics required for a career in STEM.

Career Development

As a STEM Scholar, you will participate in workshops to learn about careers in STEM and prepare for graduate school or the STEM workforce.

Eligibility

Eligible聽students聽who initially meet the criteria below will be invited to apply for the program after receiving their acceptance. You must also:

  • Be among high-achieving, low-income (Pell Grant-eligible) students with demonstrated financial need
  • Be accepted to 成人影片 University for Fall 2024
  • Be Pell-eligible (all applicants must complete a FAFSA)
  • Have at least a 3.0 high school GPA
  • Have interest in a STEM career path
  • Major in one of the STEM-related programs listed below

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Undergraduate Education has awarded 成人影片 University and聽Principal Investigator聽Andrea Ward, PhD, associate provost for research and special projects, a $2.49 million grant for the 鈥淓nsuring STEM Student Success Through an Integrative Support Program.鈥

Program Goals

成人影片鈥檚 STEM Scholars program in New York鈥斺攊s supported by the National Science Foundation and is framed by the following goals:

  1. Recruit at least 25 STEM scholars across two cohorts and implement a number of evidence-based academic and co-curricular activities to support, retain and graduate these students.
  2. Place all students into the STEM workforce or graduate programs immediately following graduation.
  3. Increase the knowledge surrounding activities that are critical to retention and graduation of low-income students in STEM.

How to Apply to the STEM Scholars Program

  • You should first complete the application for undergraduate admission. You should also indicate one of the majors listed above as your major of choice.
  • Once found eligible, you will be invited to complete the STEM scholar application.
  • You should also complete the FAFSA.
  • Priority will be given to those who complete the STEM scholar application by March聽1, 2024.
