Mission

The mission of ³ÉÈËӰƬ University’s Learning Resource Program is to provide an inclusive environment that enables students with documented Learning Disabilities and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder to attain their educational goals. Using a supportive environment for academic and social success, the Program delivers individualized sessions provided by educational and counseling professionals that focus on the strengths, talents and needs of the student. Services and supports also include collaboration with faculty, staff and campus-wide support services, fostering independence and integration consistent with the ³ÉÈËӰƬ University experience.

Our History

It all began in 1979, when ³ÉÈËӰƬ University, under the leadership of Fred Barbaro, began one of the first academic support programs for college students with learning differences in the country. A unique feature of the Program was its multidisciplinary approach. As universities and ³ÉÈËӰƬ evolve, so do the lives, skill sets and needs of students. The Learning Resource Program has responded to those needs with a shortened summer session for first-year students, a Campus Ally Program, skills sessions and parent groups. In the fall students can request additional assistance for Writing and Math, attend available drop-in sessions, utilize our study rooms, and attend organized study groups. Today, the Learning Resource Program boasts hundreds of alumni who thrive in the professions and the business world.

The Learning Resource Program is an incredibly warm and welcoming space for students with learning disabilities who are facing unique challenges. It helped launch my successful career, and I am forever grateful for the faculty that supported me along the way.
